How to play
Match each word to its tile. Fill the whole board before you run out of words.
Rules
- Everyone gets the same 4×4 board, and a new one unlocks every day at midnight Eastern.
- Each tile is one HSK 1 word, written one way: as characters, as pinyin or as its English meaning.
- The same 16 words come up one at a time, written a different way from their tile. Tap the tile that is the same word.
- Right tile: it gets a red seal and shows the word in characters, pinyin and English.
- Wrong tile: you lose that word and the one after it. Neither comes back.
- Not sure? Skip. A skipped word costs no miss, but it doesn't come back either, so its tile stays empty.
- There is exactly one word per tile, so every skip or miss leaves a tile empty. Fill all 16 to clear the board.
Good to know
- The card tells you what to look for: the characters, the pinyin or the meaning.
- Pinyin is written with tone marks. When two words on a board share a form (他 and 她 are both tā), that form is never used for them, so every tile has one right answer.
- When a board ends, every tile shows its word in full, so you can review the ones you missed.
- Your streak counts cleared daily boards in a row. Archive boards don't count. It's saved in this browser only.
